I'm currently a junior and I have taken the SATs two times so far, the last time being March. I prepped very little compared to most people, having only taken a few practice tests a couple weeks before each test. I personally don't believe in private tutoring or classes, nor do I want to put that unnecessary financial strain on my parents.

The reason I am striving to do as well as I can on the SAT is because I want to get as much merit money and scholarship as I can, as my family is not exactly well-off, and my older brother is going through college now, but still not in a position to receive significant financial aid as we live in a somewhat affluent neighborhood on Long Island.

Here are my scores:

October 2006
CR 640, Math 680, Writing 700
Total: 2020

March 2007
CR 720, Math 670, Writing 660
Total: 2050

Superscore:
CR 720, Math 680, Writing 700
Total: 2100

I am looking at applying to a bunch of 2nd or 3rd tier privates that are known to give good merit aid, while still applying to some elite privates (Tufts) and publics (UVa). I have a good gpa (don't know it for sure yet, but I'd guess weighted over 100 and unweighted somewhere around 95-100, on a 100% scale), taking the hardest classes including 4 APs so far.

So, (I didn't mean for this post to be so long), do you think I should take the SAT again to try to up my writing and math scores (both of which are usually what I do best on anyway)? Is 2100 enough to get merit aid? Do colleges frown upon taking the test 3 times? And should I abandon my pride and actually formally prep for the test? I would be taking it in May if I did end up doing it again.

Thanks for your time, I truly appreciate it.
