I’m applying to a university, and it says this…
“While we don’t require an essay and/or letters of recommendation in the admission process, these can be submitted with your Counselor Signature Page.”
Now, it says that they don’t require an essay…
But, that you can still submit them…
So, should I create my own essay with a topic, and spend time on that? Should I just not do one? Should I get a teacher recommendation letter, or not? It’s not required, but will it look better?
BTW - This isn’t a top 50 school in the country, and i’m almost certain i’ll be accepted.

Anyone have advice?

I'd do it anyway, because what if you didn't get in. In this day in age nothing with admissions is certain. Perhaps it is a safety and the essay and rec will net you a nice merit gift package.

Should my topic be something about "Why do I want to go to this school? What will I bring to this school?" I think that would be the easiest.

Yes, and don't be generic with your response.

If you don't really have time to write another essay, you could always use an essay you have to write for another school any way. Or you could write about why you chose that school, colleges always like to know why you're considering them. And if you have a teacher that knows you really well and you feel like their rec letter would help you, then why not just submit it.

That type of language most likely means that they won't read it even if you submit it. It wouldn't hurt to recycle an essay from another college that you are applying to.

I wouldn't stress too much. 'We accept but don't require essays' isn't the school trying to trick you, it's just an accurate statement of of requirements.

Write something, make sure it isn't complete garbage, and relax.
