Help!!!What should I FOR THE SUMMER

I just got rejectedthe place where I want to volunteer for the summer. As of right now, I have no service credit, no extracurricular activity, and no community service hours. I do not really have a plan for the summer, except study for the SAT and the PSAT. But other than that, if there anything I can do for the summer, and would getting a real job help at all on my college application?

I know how you feel, I separated my shoulder. As a result, I was unable to partake in much community service (hospital) that I was planning on. While it shouldn't necessarily hurt your chances, just do something else: summer reading, visit colleges, prep. SAT/ACT study, start essays. I get the feeling that you're going into soph. or junior year though, so you have a bunch of time left to get hours and serve the community, don't sweat it and have FUN over summer.
As far as a job, it can't hurt. I've had a job since the summer before Freshman year, and colleges take it into consideration because of the responsibility and dedication involved. It can't hurt. The only college that I know that I will be applying to that won't care about the job is Columbia.

DO ECs...........like uh........ start a business firm, think about some brilliant ideas and carry them out......be famous and get into everywhere
