Help! What to do next?

Hi, Im an international transfer student and just got accepted to AU. I’m most definitely attending but i would just like to know whts next after receiving the admission letter?

For now, I know that I’m supposed to submit my enrollment agreement and housing deposit, but what’s after? Do I just wait? Or what do I do?

Appreciate any help given!!

After you submit the deposit they will email you. Then just follow the steps on the new student checklist on the au student portal. This includes signing into your student gmail, taking the online math placement test, uploading an id picture, and many more tasks.

We just received a email from my daughter’s adviser. They will email the preregistration
Link on May 06. In the meantime, follow the steps in the freshman checklist as suggested. You will find it in myau.com. Good luck.

@pushydad How do we get an advisor? Do we also talk to said advisors about how many transferrable credits we have? Freshman checklist is similar to the transfer checklist?

@sea802 how long did it take for them to email you once you put in your deposit?

Hi cposie,

I used to work at the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office that assists all international students.

If you have any questions, you can always call the ISSS office and if they do not know the answer they will work to get you the answer or forward you to the right person. Their phone number is 202-885-3350 or email one of the staff on this webpage: [Meet the Staff - International Student and Scholar Services | International Student & Scholar Services | American University, Washington, D.C.](http://www.american.edu/ocl/isss/Meet-the-Staff.cfm)

In the mean time, you should be worrying about sending in your Transfer-In Form to American University’s ISSS.

Good luck!

Cposie, the email was from SIS Advising. You can always call them with questions. They have been very helpful. I haven’t seen the Transfer Checklist.

@bk4972b I have actually submitted the CFIS form and supporting financial proof to admissions when I submitted my application as it was part of the application checklist. Do I have to re submit it to ISSS? Or will the admissions office transfer it over to ISSS after I submit my deposit?

@cposie - I really shouldn’t give you advising over this forum considering there are international student advisers and an admissions coordinator at ISSS, but if you never submitted a Transfer-In Form then you’ll likely be asked to in the future. The page I posted below has the F-1/J-1 Transfer-In Form that you need to fill out (the top half) and give to an adviser at your previous school to fill out the bottom half. If your school doesn’t fill it out, then AU will not be able to receive your SEVIS record to continue your studies at AU.

Also, I suggest you take a look at ISSS’ pre-arrival checklist for international students: [Pre-Arrival Checklist](http://www.american.edu/ocl/isss/Pre-Arrival-Checklist.cfm)

Like I said, calling or emailing ISSS would probably be the best way to get advising for you!
