I was told by someone here once that i was supposed to wait for an email from the housing department to request for a room... Is this correct? once my application is in file all i have to do is wait and look at my email or am i supposed to go the housing.ufl.com and do the contract myself and then select my request?

PLEASE HELP!

Thank you,

I never got any email or anything in regards to a “contract” yet i still filled out the housing application (i did this on my own) I never got any email of acceptance i had to find out myself.

So whats the deal it says that i was supposed to be sent a contract AFTER APPLYING TO UF/ AFTER COMPLETING MY UF HOUSING FEE. i never received any type of contract to select room preference or nothing.

And it says that they’re are NO contracts available as of 9/30/11

If they didnt send me the contract like they were suppposed to the housing department will be hearing from me VERY SOON and not in the nicest manner.

Thank you

If you have sent in your check for housing($25-$35, I forget which)…or paid the housing fee of this amount, you have no worries…that is all you have to rush to do is pay the housing fee as soon as you apply or within a week of when you apply. After this, just wait for them to contact you about choosing which dorm…

What does submission of a housing application do?

Completion of a housing application and payment of the $25.00 non-refundable application fee establishes your Housing Application Date. Successful completion of a housing application DOES NOT GUARANTEE CAMPUS HOUSING OR ADMISSION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA. Preferences for hall, room type, and roommate requests are not made on the housing application. This step comes later, once an offer of campus housing has been made. Offers of campus housing, if housing is still available, will be made approximately two weeks after admission to the University of Florida

Contract Process

I applied, what next?

After you have applied for housing, your next step doesn’t come until after you are admitted to the University of Florida. Within one week of admission into UF you will receive an e-mail to your personal e-mail account explaining how to complete a contract.

I REALLY HOPE WHAT YOU STATED IS CORRECT BECAUSE I’M GOING BANANAS.
The problem is I never got any contract…

Thank you and please help any further if you can.

If you paid your $25 non refundable application fee and completed the housing app, you have NO worries. That is all you must do at this point in time. You will not get the contract until after you are admitted to UF, which you won’t know until mid Feb 2012. After you are admitted, then you decide on which dorm you want or off campus housing. You don’t even have to think about that yet! Just make sure that after you apply, you go to housing@ufl.edu and complete the housing application and payment of $25. All this does is that if you are admitted, you will have a “place in line” of other applicants to pick out housing…the earlier that you applied and submitted the housing contract (July, August, Sept–early apps), the better the chances of getting a dorm room in your choice of building. Right now is only the time to complete housing application and pay the $25 application fee. No worries :)

wonderful response and really thank you, but I did get accepted to UF for spring term 2012 as a transfer student from miami dade college. I got notified in late August…

I was admitted to the Fisher School of Accounting for spring.

So still no worries? Please continue

I think that you better call housing. If you look at the threads here, there is one stating that spring housing 2010 has been oversold. I’m not sure how that relates to transfer students because they specifically talk about Freshman. Would Junior transfers even live on campus?

Oh, I am sorry, Lazman…you didn’t say you were a Spring 2012 admittee…I assumed you were a fall 2012 admittee. I also heard that all Spring 2012 on campus housing was full, but please call UF housing dept. as soon as possible ( phone # should be on housing.ufl.edu )and ask them!
If you are unable to find on campus housing for spring…check Craig’s list for people looking for a roommate for January 2012 semester…Look under housing section…there are a lot of rooms/apartment space/ roommates wanted/share availability on Craig’s list…
Sorry that I didn’t know you were spring…
