Help!! where can i transfer to?

Hey, I have just completed my first year from Cardiff Uni (its in wales , UK). Im currently pursuing a degree in Bsc Accounting and Finance. My first year result has been quite good. I managed to score a 74% overall, which falls under the 1.1 category (1.1 being the highest grade).
I intend to maintain my percentage in the 2nd year as well.
My SAT 1 -1270/1600
I really want to transfer to a good B-school in the US.
I want to transfer in fall 2007.

Can someone list a few universities which i might get into?

Thanks

Most state schools i guess, except for california. I don't really understand the grading though. You got 74%, but got the highest grade of 1.1? i don't understand.

maybe try SUNY schools (new york state schools)

^some schools have grade deflation

1.1 is not like the 1.1/4 gpa. The uk grading system is different. 74% should probably be somewhere close to a 3.5/4 gpa in the US

in that case, how is that the highest?

err basically....anything above a 70% is treated as 1.1......and 1.1 is the highest u can get............i knw its confusing

Wales Grading system is retarded....

Your SAT will keep you out of the top B schools. Can you retake? A 1500 math + CR with your good gpA might get you into Wharton, MIT, Haas or Stern.

Cornell might be a good program to look at and cmu which are slightly less competitive. For those shoot for a 1400 SAT.

Is cornell good? I am interested in a finance major

what are u taking about im going to do my undergraduate at Warwick University and 1.1 is not out of 4.0 its 1.1 is actually a 4.0

uncrushable7 check here
http://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide/unitedkingdom.htm

it converts UK grade to US grade and urs is a 4.0

but ur SAT is the one that is holding you back maybe you should try University of Michigan LAS and then transfer to ROSS

Americans.. UK grading system is not deflated, the American grade system is inflated

uncrushable7 you can msn or e-mail me if you have any questions, I spent 13 years in the US and is also familar with the US and the UK system since I'm going / studied there its better then asking other people who have no clue about what a 1.1 is since they are comparing it to a 1.1/ 4.0

I don't understand how a 70% can equal an A...how is the American grading system inflated? I could be reading this completely wrong but it seems that the UK grade system is inflated because they give what is essentially a C here a perfect score there. I am so confused. :(

Edit: NVM I just figured it out.

uhh i still don't get it, can someone explain it to me? but basically, if you're saying you have a 4.0 and a 1270 SAT transfering to any of the top 4 B-schools in the U.S. probably won't happen because a) you're an international candidate, so more difficult and b) your SATs are low, try raising them at least 100 points (and you will probably be required to take it over if you took it without the writing section). Aim for at least a 2050/2400. Good luck.

p.s. you might want to check out some less competitive b-schools in the u.s., but still pretty amazing such as marshall at the university of southern california, or ucla.

hmm................

UCLA doesn't have an undergrad b-school.

I thought that after 2 years, schools don't look at test scores and your high school record, and rather just your application, college transcript, and recommendations. Someone let me know if i'm wrong.

i would like an answer to that aswell

As a junior transfer, many of the UC's don't put weight on your high school test records, however many of the ivy leagues will. I know Stern and Cornell will look at it, but they won't put much weight on it.

UTexas does not require SATs or a HS transcript. And, UVirginia puts much more weight on college performance.
