Help!!?? where should I apply

Hi, I'm a senior who has absolutely NO IDEA where to apply for college...so far I have been very nit-picky about where I want to apply and the only place I've decided to apply is Carnegie Mellon...

I'll probably apply to college as a civil engineering major (although I'm also interested in Chemistry and psychiatry) and as a music performance minor

Gender: F, resident of California
Half Chinese half European ethnicity (I moved to the US when I was eleven...technically an immigrant, not a citizen)
Extremely competitive public high school
Tons of Honors/AP classes (all honors/ap senior year)
3 years of architecture classes at my hs which exposed me to structural engineering

Weighted GPA: 4.38, UW 3.9
SAT: 2310- CR 800 Writing 780 Math 730
Subject tests: 760 Math 2c, 720 Chem (will retake in November)

ECs
I've played violin for 13 yrs and piano for 10...it would be piano performance that I'm interested in minoring however.
A ton of orchestra/chamber music experience, won some prestigious competitions, played in masterclasses and festivals all over the U.S.
I will send in an art supplement of me playing piano
Most of my community services is aimed towards helping kids with their education...I co-founded a club to raise money for underfunded schools/kids at my school, read to underprivileged kids, tutor a lot, hold piano fundraising concerts for kids, etc....
Swimming for two years, Robotics team

NMS commended, CSF, NHS member

I think I would prefer a small school, preferably closer to home (for my parents), but I love the east coast. Obviously, I will apply regular decision everywhere

Any ideas? Thanks SO much in advance; I'd really appreciate any insight!!

Cost constraints?

Do you like any of the UCs and CSUs? You probably have a decent chance at Berkeley and UCLA, and a good chance at other UCs (though only B, D, I, and LA have civil engineering). However, they are not small (except Merced, which does not have civil engineering). CSUs with civil engineering also tend to be large.

Other schools in California with civil engineering are California Baptist, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, Stanford, Southern California, and Pacific.

[CollegeData - College 411 - College Match](College Search & Match with our College Finder | CollegeData) reveals 65 schools in eastern states with undergraduate enrollment under 10,000 and civil engineering.

Remember, your most important school for your application list is your safety. You must be assured of admission and affordability at that school.

I know you were looking at a different location but Check out Rice, we have a pretty good Civil Engineering program.

ucbalumnus: cost isn’t a problem, although obviously I would prefer to pay less…thanks so much, I’ll definitely check out those schools
I’m considering Stanford but I’m doubtful I’ll get in…maybe Loyola Marymount is a better choice

barrk123: will do! thanks a lot
