help-where to transfer/chances, etc

Okay, so I guess I'll start off with my stats:
*College sophomore (in fall) at state university (which gives me NO financial aid)
*Overall GPA: 3.4 (sunk down from 3.6 thanks to a stingy professor)
*High School Gradepoint Average: 92-93 (took nearly all honors/APS)
*ECs: High School: Captain of Mock Trial, Director of school plays, HIV/AIDS peer leader
College: Drama Club, Amnesty International (Board Member), Hillel (member)

I started out college as a theater major, then changed to International Studies...

I applied to NYU Tisch as a high school senior and was even TOLD by them that I was a great fit for the school, but by the end, was rejected.

Now I'm looking to transfer, since my EFC on my FAFSA would make attending private school the same price as a state school.

My dream school is NYU (always has been)...Any comments/suggestions of other schools?

Thanks!

NYU will not be easy to get into. I would have suggested GTown, but the GPA is a little low. I would suggest maybe going back for another year and raising the GPA and then applying as a rising junior. That way you'll still get all the transfer credits and have a chance to raise the GPA.

do colleges look at hs grades when you transfer?

They kinda look at high school grades, but they will not weigh them more than your actual college grades.

Oh, I completely forgot to mention my ACT score: 29.
I'm definitely going to stick around for another year to get my grades up...it shouldn't be too difficult to get back to at least a 3.6.

Really to have a good chance to transfer you need it about a 3.7 in my estimation. NYU and we'll say Georgetown are very competitive for transfer with most easily having over a 3.5 GPA.
