Help! Which school is best for someone pursuing veterinary medicine?

I’m a current community college student transferring this fall 2015.

Schools I’ve been accepted to so far:
Cal State Fullerton – Geology
Cal Poly Pomona – Animal Science (Pre-vet emphasis)
Cal Poly SLO – Dairy Science (plan on changing major to Animal Science after my first quarter if I decide to go here)
UC Santa Barbara – Environmental Studies

Schools I’m still waiting for a decision:
UC Irvine – environmental science
UC Berkely – Earth and Planetary Science
UCLA – environmental science
UC Davis – wildife, fish and conservation biology

I know both Cal Poly schools are good for pre-vet education and UC Davis is also a good school for pre-vet education because they have a very exceptional veterinary medicine program.

My top choice is UC Davis, but what if I don’t get in?
Both Cal Poly schools are good for pre-vet, however UC’s are really good for research and I think incorporating research into my studies would help me be a good candidate for vet school as well.

I guess basically my main point is I don’t want my money gone to college applications to be a waste so I want to know if I should even consider going to the other schools I applied to.

Vet school is ridiculously expensive - finish your undergrad at whichever school is cheapest.

But I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Davis.

That is very true @dodgersmom‌ I will definitely take money into account. I’ve talked to veterinarians that have up to $200,000 worth of student loan debt after vet school… That’s a scary number

contact the pre-vet advisors at each school and ask about success rates & what they think their school can do to help candidates stand out. Also my guess would be that any school that has an animal science program has plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in ways that are attractive to vet schools, even if they aren’t UC campuses.

edit: as a xfer student, have you checked to make SURE you can change your major at CPSLO?
