GPA:3.35/4.0 UW (senior year 3.8 unweighted... freshman year kills)

rank: doesn't rank, but top 25%. Our school offers no bump, even for AP and Honors Classes. There are about 116 people in my grade. My CC says GWU is reasonably safe given the stats of people from my school who have attended.

I want to go into International Relations or something Political. I'm writing my essay on the difficulties of being the only Democrat in Dallas (lol) at a very conservative school, attending a very conservative church. I've heard that Elliot is harder to get into than Liberal Arts College. Anyone have anything to suggest?

Elliot is harder to get into but you ECs are all internationally based and because of your languages i don't think it would be that much of a difference. Just apply to Elliot. You should be fine.

yeahhhh, definitely Elliot, can you still do an interview?

^I wanted to do an interview for Elliot, but my parents didn't want to fly up to DC until after I had been accepted. (I'm in Houston.)

I think the deadline for requesting one for was December 1. =( I hope I can still get in without one...

yeah, I'm still not sure where I'm applying. I really, really want to go to GW. I've been told that Columbian is easier than Elliot. Although my experience is really international, wouldn't my GPA hurt me more in Elliot? Just wondering...

I'm in the same boat as you are, Chanchan...my GPA is low because of my Freshman year, but since my ECs and Essays are all really internationally-inclined, I'm just going to apply to Elliot. Good luck! =)

Your GPA isn't that bad and it shows a positive progression which is something that colleges like to see. I think as long as you play toward your international background in your ECs that you will be fine.

but can I apply to Columbian then transfer to Elliot? I haven't interviewed and don't really have any connections to the school, so I need all the help I can get.

can we still do interviews?

No... not unless you've got some pull and are living near DC.
