HELP: Which score do I submit?

Here's my scores:

June 2007
English:34
Math:35
Reading:36
*Science:26
Composite:33
*Writing:10

September 2007
English:32
Math:35
Reading:34
*Science:35
Composite:34
*Writing:8

I did really well on science this September (brought it up 9 points from June) but my writing score was only an 8. Do I submit both scores and let colleges see the 26 on science (but also the 10 on writing) or do I only submit the 34 with the 8 on writing (sick)? keep in mind that i plan on applying to the upper echelon schools (ivies, stanford, duke, uchicago, mit).

I would submit them both. I think it's highly unlikely that the 26 in science will hurt you, but there's some chance that they'll look at your higher writing score.

Submit the highest one... 34...

anyone else have an idea? i'm really mad that i got an 8 because i'm a much better writer than that. i think it may have something to do with the fact that i left out the conclusion...

Unless you were planning in majoring in a English/writing type field, I would just submit the second one. Colleges can see your writing from essays, but they can't see your science ability.

Send both if you can afford it.

^what do you mean "if you can afford it"

It costs money for each score report. ACT doesn't send them all at once.

does writing really affect admissions that much anyway?

"If you can afford it" means that if sending it twice won't put any strain on your family economics-wise, go and send both scores.

The writing can be used in multiple ways. If they ask for it specifically, it probably means something to the ad. offices...

well obviously but would you say the higher you score the less and less important writing becomes (to a certain degree, i'm not saying you can get like a 4 on the writing or something)?

I would think they only use it as a confirmation, since the test has only been around for a few years. If, like you said, you have a four on the essay and you turn in this spectacular common app essay, some eyebrows may raise (especially since they can view your SAT/ACT essay online).

Yeah, especially since they can read the essay online, I'd send them both. There's a big difference between a 10 essay and an 8 essay.

Also, colleges are going to be interested in your writing skills regardless of your field of study.

so you don't think the 26 science will hurt me too much?

bump

Submit your composite 34! An 8 essay won't hurt you as bad as a 26 science, IMO. The 34 makes you look better.

are you sure an 8 essay won't hurt me too much at a top tier school?

If I was applying to MIT I would obviously submit the 34 cuz i got 35s on math and science but what about HYPS?

well u improved on the science.. so i think u should jsut send in both~ the 10 essay looks good

I really don't think either the 26 science or the 8 essay will hurt you, IF you also send the 35 science and the 10 essay.

I think you MUST send in both send you've taken the test twice. That's what my counselor just told me today.
