Middlebury, as some of you probably know, requires you to send in an essay you wrote for school. Not too bad. I have those. Life was good. I was just going to print one out.... but WHAM I re-read the supplement and realized that it has to have the teacher's comments written on it! I have crappy essays with teacher comments at home now, and really good essays without in my binder or on my computer, and some good essays with teacher comments that are, at the moment, at my teacher's house or locked in her desk at school. And I don't know how to pick locks :( anyways the school is closed for the break. The deadline is Jan 1.

To sum it up- should I include a good essay without comments? Or should I submit an essay with comments seven days late, when school gets back in session and I can get the essays from my teacher?

Does submitting part of an application late mean that it's going to be automatically tossed in the garbage at the college? Should I write copious apologies all over the envelope to appeal to the emotions of the poor mail sorters? (that must be a terrible job, but I digress...)

Any help/advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think u should follow the instruction. wait till school resumes and get your essays. try to make up a story for being late and write it in a separate sheet of paper and send along with the essay
generally, this is a situation most students jump into. they seem to forget a part of the app requirement. now u have to think about some little tricks :D

I would go ahead and send in the good essay and attach a note saying that the other essay( the same one but with the comments) would be arriving shortly. I think it is safer for them to at least have something- whether it be the crappy essay with commments or the good one without. Also, it might help if you can email your teacher about your situation and have him/her send an email confirming your situation. If this is a school that is difficult/reach/high match, you might want to reconsider sending in a crappy essay if every part of the application is going to mean something for you. This is conflicted situation- see if you can get into contact with your teacher.

that would be a good solution.
if so, make sure u send 2 copies of the same essay - 1 is a draft and the other is the final- so “show off” to college to make them see how u improve
of course u need to provide an explanation

I’m applying to Middlebury too, and I’ve just realized that I have the same problem. I suppose I’ll just send it in late–my hopes for getting in weren’t too high in the first place if it really is that detrimental. I’m not sure of the gravity, though, sorry. Good luck!

Just have it turned in late and send in a note saying what happened. Schools are pretty understanding. I sent my ED agreement like two weeks before they sent me their acceptance letter.
