So I'm in total freak out mode, and I feel like it's too late. I got accepted into UCD and UCSC. But because of many issues, parents divorce, having to take of my mother, breaking up with my girlfriend of 3 years, I fell into a major depression. This caused me to fall behind in my classes. I am still hoping to pass two of my classes, but I had to withdraw from one because of being too far behind and problems with the teacher. My counselor said it was ok to withdraw because it is not required for igetc and i still have 60 units, but it is a class towards my major, English, not required but reccomended. It came to light last night that I need to inform the colleges of my schedule changes with an explanation. I'm working on an explanation that makes the best case for still being admitted and waiting to meet with a cc counselor, but
I'm still in panic mode. Any advice?

Call them if you haven’t already. If they ask why you withdrew, explain clearly and calmly. If you don’t need it for IGETC, 60 units, and it’s not an absolute requirement for your major, it’s highly unlikely that they will rescind your admission. Again, highly unlikely. There is nothing to worry about. Davis is pretty lenient on this stuff anyways.

So should I call them first or fill out the information online, I’m in line to see a counselor right now. I was thinking they could help, but I want to get in contact with davis asap.

Well you can’t talk to a counselor and talk on the phone at the same time. If you’re about to meet with one then you should do that. When you’re done you should call them. But I can’t emphasis it enough, it’s highly unlikely you would be rescinded. You still have to call and inform them of course, and they might take a little while to get back to you on the whole situation, but you should be fine. If it doesn’t mess with any of your requirements, then it shouldn’t be a problem.

I also realized that I made some mistakes on my application. I accidentally listed a course that i didnt plan to take on the application, then fixed it on the tau. Then i stupidly signed up for geology thinking i could take instead of geography but then dropped it. I also enrolled in a writing tutoring class and didn’t realize it was graded and withdrew. These mistakes seem like they are minor, but it doesn’t help my case. I’m calling davis first thing in the morning, but how should I present this?

Well, you should obviously talk about your major-related class first. And like I said, if they ask why you withdrew, explain clearly and calmly. Then explain all of your class schedule changes. Things like this happen all the time, the UCs expect it. Unless any of these changes mess with your requirements, you should be fine.

no worries. i got accepted to ucd as well, but due to some extenuating circumstances i had a to drop a few courses as well. but they were really forgiving and they allowed me to keep my acceptance. i think you should definitely talk to the ucd admissions people as soon as you can, they’ll give you good advice and they’re super nice. i think ucd will be understanding for the most part, so no worries. you fulfilled the 60 unit requirement so you got a strong case to work with. 99.9 percent chance they’ll let you keep your acceptance .

Davis got back to me and said that everything is ok as long as i get C’s in my final 2 classes! Now comes the hard part, applying myself to manage those grades, but I think I can do it!

Glad to hear that. :)
