Greetings my fellow explorers of the internwebs, lol. Hey guys i will be going into sophomore year next year and we have begun looking into our future classes. I currently have a 7 class day with A & B day for alternating electives. I like electives, but really see them as a free class/ waste of time. Youre basically guaranteed an A so their like GPA turbo boosters lol. I am currently taking algebra 1 because i switched schools and had to retake an intro to algebra class, bit nonetheless im here. Next year inwill have block scheduling so 2, 4 class semesters for a total of 8 classes. I want to double up on science( bio and chem honors) one on each semester, but seeing that im behind in math, would it be a smarter choice to double up on math? I also have the option of doubling up on both and not taking an elective. I believe my school offers summer classes so i could also take geometry over the summer and then i could take algebra 2 during the school year and be able to complete my PE credit requirements. What route do you believe i should take, preferably from some one who has been through sophomore year and has a decent knowledge of this limbo, Thanks everyone! Sorry for the grammar, im on my ipad and english, not being my first language isnt my fort

What universities are you thinking of?

Im thinking of places like Haverford, Swathmore, Dickinson, but would take high scholarships to state schools or even large private ones like Temple.

I would go with math just so you could take Calculus your senior year.

Should i just double up on math and take a single scince or do geometry over the summer and algebra 2 over the regular year?

If you like science enough to be thinking of doubling up on it, and you are interested in applying to some fairly selective colleges, I think you need to double up your math somehow. You should look into what the summer class is like, it could be kind of remedial, and figure out the best plan. But I think you will be best off in the long run if you can finish algebra2 by the end of sophomore year. If you don’t care about electives and if you think you can handle it, then try doubling the math and the science both. But don’t get in over your head. Good luck.

Anyone else?

I was going to post something long, but then I realized that I agreed completely with mathyone. Either take the summer class, making sure it’s okay for skipping ahead, or double up on both math and science. If it comes down to you either doubling on science or doubling on math, double on math instead. Though you may love science, it’s probably more beneficial for you to get ahead in math.
