Help with a D, "enrichment credit", and a repeat

Hi everyone,

Last semester I took a certain very difficult course, struggled, and received a D. I decided to retake the course this summer and so far (keep fingers crossed) I am doing quite well!

The problem lies in the fact that my school won't "officially" replace the grade unless the initial grade was an F. They will count the new grade as merely "enrichment credit" if the original one was passing (which a D, pathetic as it is, unfortunately counts as). So in a sense, it would have been better for me to fail completely the first time around!

I have a few questions:

What will graduate schools think - will they recognize my hard-earned grade the second time around? Will they appreciate the fact that I put time and effort into the second try of the class?

Should I see if the department this course is in will lower the original grade to an F or somehow annul it?

Bump…
