Help with a hypothetical situation...

Say I get into both UT Austin and UCSD..which school should I attend according to the information below:

Major- Biology..something in the biological science area anyways, but probably biology

I want a really good education..good science program, but I still want to be able to have a little fun.

Tuition- UT vs. UCSD
UT- appx 2000-3000 (in-state) UCSD- I think 30,000-40,000 until you get residency

Scenery- UCSD has La Jolla Beach in it's backyard :)

Other good things about UCSD- Basically all my relatives live in San Diego..besides my family and a couple of other aunts

I really love location and the weather.

-Quality of education, however is of most importance to me.

lol UT is only 2k-3k for you?

unless its up against Harvard or something, UT is a no brainer

UT is famous, big, and has good research facilities, itll be as good as you make it.

You will not get residency while you are an undergrad, and less than 50% graduate from UCSD in 4 years. That makes UCSD the price of a top private plus. I'd go to UT.

Do you plan to stay in Texas after graduation? If so, a degree from UT will mean more than ANY other degree you could possibly have, I would argue maybe even more than an Ivy League. The alumni connections and respect for UT are incredibly, incredibly srong in the state of Texas.

If not, I would say the choice is really up to you. Is living in La Jolla and having slightly smaller classes worth an extra $25,000 to $35,000 a year?
