What would be the best major for pursuing a career in patent law? Or even just a list of majors that are highly common?

Also, what kind of major is good if you know you want to do law, but aren't sure what kind of law yet?

I worked at a patent law firm for a few months - every attorney there had an engineering degree and about half had a few years of working as an engineer before attending law school. (Disclaimer: I have little personal interest in patent law and haven’t done research and thus don’t know if this is typical)

Any major is fine for law school - just make sure you’re developing your critical thinking and analytical writing/public speaking skills. I’m convinced a religion major is excellent (nope, I’m not biased or continually trying to justify my major choice to my parents) because it’s the study of a set of ideas and how they function off-paper, in the real world. (Another Disclaimer: I have not attended law school yet, or even applied, this is just a compilation of various advice I have received)

What about Biology?
I think I want to study Bio, but I’m not sure if I’m making a mistake, since it tends to be a GPA killer! I’m naturally better at the social sciences/history, Bio interests me but I only do well with a lot of work

thanks guys!

the thing with bio and engineering is that i’m not very good at those kinds of subjects! i applied for college with a sociology major cause i heard that its a good choice for law school…but now im worried that it might not help me if i want to do patent law =

If you like social sciences, you should look into Economics as a major. It is a good major for potential law students.
