Help with a SAT 2 Chem Question

Hi All

I am posting this on behalf of my son. He found this question in one of the sample tests and not able to solve it. He needs to know how to solve it.

Question: How many moles of electrons are transferred in the following reaction:

Ce^(3+) + Pb ---> Ce + Pb^(4+)

Thanks
Mwahal

12mole
add numbers to each substances 4/3/4/3 to keep the equation in balance,so we get the mole of electrons transferred in the reaction is 12moles

@zengdamo - thank you for the answer and explanation.
