HELP WITH ACT MATH AND SCIENCE

Hey all,
So I’m a currently a junior who just took the April ACT.
My scores:
English:33
Math:29
Reading:33
Science:28
Composite:31

So I’m having trouble with both the math section and the science section. Currently, I’m taking AP Calc AB, and its alarming to me that i’m unable to score that high on the math section. For science, I need to pop that score up because I want to get my score range into a 33-36 range. If anyone could please help me find a way to study the math and science section and achieve higher in that, I will truly appreciate it.

The fact that you’re in Calc AB is irrelevant to your ACT performance. The ACT tests absolutely nothing related to calculus. Most of it is algebra and geometry. I think you should brush up your basic math skills, especially geometry since you probably haven’t studied it in a while.

Having the same problem as you… Science is a killer, but one tip that I found to raise my math score to a 33-34 is that when you see that you can’t solve a math problem by logic or some formula… just use what they give you. I think that’s one of the things you have to learn, use the answer choices they give you and plug in. Sometimes it’s not about knowing how to do a problem, but how to use the answers.

I found that science only really tests your ability to interpret graphs and data. You can honestly just skip or skim the whole section and go straight to the questions. Often, at least 2 of the answers don’t really make any sense and you can just cross them out.
