Help with AP decisions

I'm going to be a senior next year, and i have to start choosing my classes for next semester. Although i have taken a kind of scary amount of honors classes in my previous and present high school years, i havent taken any AP's. i was planning on taking two APS next year, one being AP Literature and Composition, and AP Psych. but i was also thinking about taking AP Environmental Science. i dont know if two APs are enough to get into schools like GW, U of Michigan, U of Pitt, and Lafayette, so should i take the third? I really dont know! help!

take APs that interest you..."don't take them just to have APs"...however if you've got a requirement to fill, by all means take that at the AP level...but you're not going to help anyone (yourself or your classmates) by going into, say, AP chemistry when you really just want to get into law school...

but if you have worries about dealing with a lot of APs, don't worry...i'm taking 5 this year, and it's a stretch, but doable...i also play varsity sports and have a job...so yeah, don't stress about it.

but more important than the specific classes you take is the overall rigor of your selection...you said you've taken many honors courses, and if your school doesn't offer many APs, this is perfectly reasonable.

so there's just a bunch of random thoughts for you...enjoy.

From a person who took 2 APs last year, 5 APs this year, and is going to be taking 5 APs next year, you're hearing from someone who is well-versed in the AP world!

Here is my advice:

Take AP classes in subjects you are interested in. Do you like social sciences (Psych), English (Lit & Comp) and science (Environmental Science)?

Take your APs in consideration with your other classes. If you're going to have a tough teacher next year in an Honors class and will make your life Hell, try going a little easier on yourself. No AP is worth being miserable.

Think about what kind of teachers will be teaching the AP classes. If you've heard that a certain teacher doesn't prepare well for the AP, I would recommend against not taking the class. You can always self-study, but it's a pain, especially when it's the teacher's job to prepare you for the AP!

Know thyself. If you've been getting good grades in your honors classes, go for AP! AP is a little more challenging, but it is very, very rewarding, IMO. Challenges are good for the soul.

Anywho, I hope that helped!
