Help with apps

For additional recommendation (from counselor)- since it's coming under separate cover, should I make a sticky note addition to my form telling them to watch out for it? What personal identifying information should my counselor put on it so it gets put with my folder? Counselor doesn't know because all she tells us to apply to are state schools like UCs, which don't take letters of rec.
Anyone else having problems with the UC online app? I can't change my classes, and my school has two AP English Language courses listed and I put the one that was registered as NH instead of AP.
Since I'm submitting by paper, should I hand-write or use a typewriter?
For ECs, if one is year-round but I just started it, should I put 52 wk/yr, the number of weeks I have participated in it up to the point at which I started filling out apps, or the number of weeks I will have participated in it by the time they start reading apps?
What's the general format for essays? Single-spaced? Double-spaced? I know I need name and SSN, but anything else?
Thanks for all of your help.

Your name and SSN should be enough.

Type it. Neatness counts. Alternately, type on the computer, print, and paste.

The number of weeks you have participated thus far.

Up to you. I single-spaced mine. The word count is more important.

Thank you, warblers.
