Help with chances please.

Hello,

My son applied REA and now we are worried he should have gone RD. ND is his top choice so we are hoping he didn’t ruin his chances at acceptance. He has his heart set on this amazing school.

ACT (composite)- 33

Class rank- top 4%

Catholic

Extracurriculars- Boys State (National Finalist for Samsung national Scholarship), Choir, Orchestra, multiple Musical Theater productions, Cross Country, Model UN, Tri-M musical honor society, Math Team, Model Senate. Leadership positions in most activities.

volunteer: various regular volunteerism…

Employment: part time jobs consistently since eligible 15 hours per week average

Classes- Foreign Language (4 years), all honors classes plus 6 AP classes (max number he could take is 7); AP scores 5,5,4

Common App Essay: 8/10
ND Essays: 7/10
Teacher Rec: guessing they were good?
Counselor Rec: did not see, assuming was good; large high school with limited interaction.

Assuming he has been in contact with AC and toured campus or has shown interest another way he might be deferred to RD. My daughter was deferred last year with a 34 ACT, strong transcript and EC’s. Her high school has a good relationship with ND and typically has a few girls accepted every year. She was accepted RD and just loves ND. She is an engineering major so being female might have helped her too.

Those are much better stats than my son has, and he applied REA. Hang in there! Decision is only a few weeks away. I’m sure he’ll get in!

I’m a current freshman and I think he has a great chance. Keep in touch with your admissions rep. Last year EA came out on December 12 so not too long to wait!

@OwlEyes17 Would love to hear about your early impressions of ND thru your first 4 months or so. Also, would you mind sharing your stats since you were strong enough to get admitted last year? Thanks.
