Hello my name is Michael and I am entering 7th grade. I am most likely applying to boarding schools for high school. I am currently looking at Deerfield Academy, Philips Exeter, Philips Academy, Taft school, Lawrenceville school, St. Paul's school, and Trinity school. I would love some help with choosing a boarding school.
I have gotten only two B's through my whole sixth grade and they were both B+'s, I am in national junior honor society, I play basketball and golf, I am in public speaking club, I am Vice President of student council for the whole student body, and I put in countless hours of community service. I know that this doesn't matter for admissions but I score in the 95th percentile for the IOWA tests. Like I said before I'm entering 7th grade so I haven't taken standardized testing yet.
Think Trinity is a day school.
About choosing - worry about that after you get decisions. Before, go on visits and try to picture yourself at each of the schools, and decide where to apply.
Personally with the school choices that you gave me those are some top schools. I personally love Deerfield and I’m planning to apply there this fall. Phillips Exeter is also a great school, but personally when I visited the school it wasn’t the right fit for me. I also learned from one of the students there that it’s basically college before college. And that was an atmooshere that I personally didn’t want to have. But you should still visit because it might be place you like. Phillips Academy is also on my top three choices for boarding school it is a fantastic school. I mean from the moment I stepped onto the campus it was a place I knew I wanted to be and I still had the yearning feeling even two weeks after visiting the school. Phillips Andover and Deerfield were the only two schools that really made me feel that way.
When it comes to St. Paul I personally know people who go there and my really good friend Ellis will be attending there this fall. It is a great school with a nice academic program. If your interested in science they built a new science building only a few years ago. One school that I would recommend you too look at is Choate Rosemary Hall. My friend Sophia is going there this fall and she absolutely loves the school. I also know someone attending Hotchkiss, which is also a great school. I’ve also hear of a few other schools like Lommis, Groton, and Blair Academy. I know that Taft is a great school, but there is also a boarding school in California named Cate. It is a great school put also kind of difficult to get into to they are a small school but have a great academic program.
If you want to learn more about these school go to www.boardingschoolsreview.com they give you great information when it comes to the schools. Also your accomplishments are really great but don’t slip up because boarding schools mainly only look at your 8th grade year grades. I hope you get into the school of your choice.
