Help with Choosing Colleges for a Transfer

Hey guys, I'm a freshman bio major at Elmhurst College Elmhurst, IL, a small Liberal Arts college and I really can't stand it so I want to transfer next year or mid year if at all possible but those I hear have less likely a chance plus the applications would be do so early that I couldnt get good letters of recommendation. I mean the academics are reat but my problem with Elmhurst is that 67% of the 3,000 undergrads commute and the rest go home on the weekend which leaves the campus completely dead, which is a problem for me because I'm form Louisiana and I can't exactly go home plus the town is excruciatingly dull. So what I'm looking for is a college that has a larger population and has a more involved campus and surrounding area.
I've picked a few colleges that I like and I was just wondering ya'lls thoughts on the colleges and if you have any other ideas that you might think would be a good fit would be very much appreciated.

Schools:
Top 2 I like so far are:
UNC Chapel Hill
University of Miami- I really like the campus and location from what I've seen on the internet. But I've heard that a lot of people are really snobby and its way to big of a party school for academics to be taken seriously. Any any current UM undergrads or UM alum opinions would be great.
The Rest:
Northeastern University
George Washington University
Georgetown
University of Maryland

UC Santa Barbra the only thing that worries me about these California schools is I don't
USC know how badly CA's economic downturn will affect them

Here's my academic history just in case ya'll were wondering:

ACT composite-30
H/S GPA 3.5 or 3.6
all honors classes and some AP
AP: American history (took the AP test and got a 3)
Civics/Free enterprise
English IV
European History
made honor roll all but one quarter
Extra curriculars:
Football 4 years playing
2 year letter
senior year:
2nd team all conference
Coaches Award
Wrestling 3 years
3 year letter
junior year:
Top 8 in state
senior year:
All Conference
3rd in State
Dark horse Award (darkhorse as in the political term)
College:
GPA: I'm guessing somewhere between 3.4-3.6
Extra Curricular: Wrestling
Habitat for Humanity
Community Outreach
Honors Program
Amnesty International

Thanks to everyone who responds!

If you like the LAC atmosphere and just wish people didn’t desert you in a boring place every weekend, you might think about Rhodes College. We’re right in the heart of Memphis, TN, so there’s always a lot to do, even if everyone did leave. That said, virtually no one leaves. Only about 4% of the students live at home, 75% live on campus, and about 0% go home on the weekends. Academics are strong, especially biology. And we’ve got a strong contingent of student sfrom LA.

You have very little chance of making it into UNC-CH. Do you need FA or will you be full pay? How will your parents feel about you transferring?

I expect that the likelihood of acceptance will be very similar your chances straight out of high school.

Georgetown, UNC-CH and USC will be reaches.

Miami, GWU and NEU should be matches

Maryland your safety.
