<p>Does anyone know any schools with good nursing programs that I should consider applying to? I am going to be a senior this year (graduating a year early), and the following are my stats:</p>
<p>White female from public school
GPA: 4.0 unweighted (not sure of weighted)</p>
<p>SAT: (1460/1600, 2190/2400)
740 Reading
720 Math
730 Writing</p>
<p>Class Rank: Probably around top 15-20% (dont know yet)</p>
<p>No SAT IIs so preferably no schools that require these (had to take the June regular SAT due to early graduation so I didn't have time)</p>
<p>Classes 9th/10th (all A's):
Spanish 1/2/3/4/AP/Literature
Alg 1/2, Geometry, Precalc
English 9/10
Chemistry, AP Bio
Government, World History
AP Human Geo
Gym/Health (required)</p>
<p>Classes for 12th (hopefully):
Calc AB
Physics
Guard
AP Psych
American History
English 11 (skipped due to early graduation, not a retake)
AP English Lit</p>
<p>(All are honors except for guard/gym/health)</p>
<p>ECs (# of hours listed if I remember):
Volunteer at hospital (~175 hrs)
Internship at hospital (~135 hrs)
Volunteer at English Classes (for spanish speakers)
Volunteer in Elementary School Classroom
Teen Court
Colorguard (1 season in winterguard this year, plus band/winterguard in the upcoming year)
Also a few clubs/honor societies</p>
<p>I have mostly been considering University of Alabama or Auburn, but for "reach" schools I have been looking at:
Georgetown
University of Pittsburgh
University of Miami</p>

<p>Not too familiar with nursing schools, but I’d say with your numbers you would be borderline for a full tuition scholarship at Pitt. Your SAT is around there and the UW gpa is great but a top 15-20% rank is a little low for full tuition, but your stats are probably less common for applicants to nursing (you’d definitely be in at Pitt though). </p>
<p>Other schools to suggest would probably be Case Western and University of Rochester, since I know they has some overlap with Pitt and Miami (gives merit money and strong in the medical and health sciences).</p>

<p>Well, with your stats, you’d get free tuition at Alabama. Plus, Alabama is opening their brand new College of Nursing building conveniently located across from the medical center. </p>
<p>Bama would be a good financial safety for you because of the assured big scholarship and the brand new facilities. You’d also get into the Honors College and their really nice honors housing. </p>

<p>As for the other schools…I think you can get into Georgetown, but I don’t think you’d get merit scholarships there. Will your parents pay for that? Or will you qualify for aid?</p>
<p>The new nursing school at UA looks wonderful, thanks for the link! Hopefully I will be able to go visit the campus this summer. I don’t think I would qualify for financial aid anywhere so I’d prefer a school where I could get some kind of merit scholarships- I don’t think it would be fair to ask my parents to pay 35,000+ a year for Georgetown when I may need help for graduate school as well :/</p>
<p>Speaking of graduate school, Pitt has a graduate school guarantee in nursing, which means if you get into the guarantee and maintain the minimum requirements, you’d be admitted to the graduate program.</p>

<p>Apply early for the best shot. Pitt is rolling admissions so a lot of stuff is awarded first-come, first-served.</p>

<p>Just to let you know, the Cost of Attendance at Georgetown is over $55,000 per year.</p>
<p>Penn has one of the top nursing programs in the US and you would be a strong candidate.</p>

<p>I thought that 35 would have been including the other fees- 55?! I should probably check the additional fees for the other schools I’ve been considering, that could have a pretty big impact on the actual costs

<p>You need to look at Cost of Attendance… that is the total cost per year. It includes tuition, fees, room, board (meal plan), books, misc. </p>
<p>Don’t only look at tuition and fees, because room, board, books, etc, can easily add and additional $15k+ to tuition and fees.</p>
<p>You have great stats and I don’t think that you would have too much of an issue with any of our top choices. Pitt has an outstanding Nursing program so it is good to see that on your list.</p>
<p>One other college you may want to look into is Case Western. They have a great Nursing program and opportunities to work within some of the best hospital systems in the country. Good luck</p>
