HELP! With choosing my classes..

Hi,
I have a couple questions and need people's opinions on it. My GPA prior to this year was a 4.6 mind you. This year I decided to take on a hefty load, I am taking AP English, AP US History, Physics H, Chem H, Pre-Calc H, Business (Regular), Mock Trial (Regular), and 0 period Journalism. The thing is because I have 3 non honors classes my gpa has suffered majorly. My 1st semester grades respectively were B+, A-, A-, A-, A-, A, A, A+. My question is is better to take these extra classes and have my GPA lowered or drop them?

Second semester instead of mock trial, I am on varsity track. I am thinking about dropping business because it is only a semester class and it is lowering my GPA. Do colleges like to see me taking these ROP type courses, or would they rather have me have a higher GPA without them?

I am really unsure what to do. I want to go to UCLA, but after my choice of classes this year. I'm not sure If I'll get in ( I am a California resident btw).

Most challenging courseload definitely. But you are saying your GPA is suffering, is it because they don’t have the same weight as your AP/honors courses or because it is distracting you from your more imporant classes.

They don’t have the same weight as my AP/honor courses. To be honest, they are like joke courses. For my journalism class, I go out to eat and write food review articles. For business class, I have like a 99 percent without doing anything. Mock trial was hard during competition time, but that’s over now. It’s just that It’s lowering my GPA alot and I don’t know if I should show “drive” for business and law or whatever, or if it is just better to drop the courses because I don’t need the credits or anything… It’s just basically for the hell of it.
