Help with choosing

1) pay $3,000/yr at Univ. of Florida
2) pay $14,000/yr at Case Western Reserve Univ.

Money is not an issue, I just mentioned it because people would ask. More interested in quality of experience, benefits/disadvantages, etc.

Thanks!

i vote CWRU

Florida...CWRU isn't great socially and its no better academically. I have no idea why you'd want to go there and pay more.

I'm wondering if anyone can guage whether one school is academically superior to another one. At UF there's an honors program, and the honors dorm was built like 4 years ago and is really nice I heard. Case is ranked higher though (yeah, yeah I know that's not important...) But Case has weather that a southern person like me is not used to...is anyone here taking weather into consideration? Everyone tells me not to.

And yeah, I've heard case is not that great socially, but students tell me there's always something to do if you want...i'm more interested in activities, not parties

Case is a much more prestigious school

Yeah, I also forgot to mention that I'm applying to medical schools afterwards. So I don't think "prestigious" would matter later in life, just maybe when I'm applying to medical school...but then again I think I'd be okay applying from Florida too...I trust that I will turn myself into a good applicant

And about paying more for Case: TRUST me, money is not an issue at all (at least between these two schools it isn't)

I say Case, it's a good school and I like cleveland.

U of Florida, unless you hate the big school, rah rah spirit thing.

About the rah rah...I think I don't mind either way. Raindrop, why do you say Florida?

I have another school to add!!

3) UNC Chapel Hill, paying $28,000 (money not a huge issue, but possible to consider)

go to UNC Chapel Hill. I heard students love it there

better location mainly. the two are about the same academically imo and the social life is much better at UF.

Go to UNC...better academics and social life

UNC hands down. Worth the money. Its AMAZING socially and academically. My brother goes there, its a great place.

UNC, then case (come on then we could meet!), then UF. UNC is obviously a better school, but I personally wouldn't pay 28k a year for it.

UNC kicks the ++++ out of the other choices in every way. Its worth it.

UNC by far.

You're going to pay $100k extra for UNC over UF for the social scene and a slightly better prestige factor? Will your undergrad's prestige factor at all into getting into the MD school?

$100k is a lot of money.

Start at UF - you can always transfer if it's not a good fit.

I'd go with UF for only 3,000. but if Money is not an Issue such as you parents are well financially and you can pay off any loans then I'd go with UNC. isn't it a top 20 school.
Case Western doesn't seem that appealing. Go with the two schools that are a little more warm.

Thanks ya'll!

joeysweets, UNC is close...it's 27. But among public universities I think it's 5th.

I agree that Case just doesn't sound so appealing...but I should visit first because I used to say that about other schools before I visited them.

And UF...I don't really have a reason as to why I shouldn't go there! It's cheap and it's a good school...but maybe it's just not what I had in mind all these years

UNC is by far the best of the three and should be the easiest choice if money is of no issue.
