Hi, I need some help finding out what I should do for the future.

I am a high school senior, and have been accepted to FSU and UCF. I was denied at UF, and that was really the only school I wanted to go to. I have good enough grades to get into UF's innovation academy, which I didn't sign up for when I applied because I didn't know about it. I would actually like to do it now that I know what it is about. The problem is I have already been denied admission.

I have considered spending two years at UCF or FSU and then transferring over, and it's something I really just don't want to do. I am wondering if it is possible for me to apply to start school at UF during Spring of next year with anew application, or if there is any way I can get another chance at going to UF without spending time somewhere else. I have also considered waiting a year and applying again, but there is a chance I don't get accepted again, so I do not want to do that.

If anyone has any advice or any options I have that I am forgetting, please tell me. Thank you.

UF does not accept freshman to start spring term. Freshman admission is limited to the fall term or Summer B (freshman can apply and start in June before the fall term but criteria used to evaluate admission is the same as fall term). Also, if you attend another university, you will not be permitted to transfer until you have at least 60 transferable hours (at time of transfer not earlier time of application). Moroever, it favors those who transfer with Associates Arts degrees (2 year programs). Waiting to apply for fall 2014 is an activity that could easily leave you with no college to attend. Since you were already rejected, that will be a factor considered against you and thus you should not assume you have a significant chance of admission. Moreover, neither FSU nor UCF may accept you back. It would appear that your better course is to choose either FSU or UCF if you really want to go to a four year college.

So should I go to UF’s community college for two years and transfer over, or would going to UCF or FSU give me an equal chance at getting accepted after to years? Also, if I go to UCF or FSU, which one do you think would give me a better chance at getting in to UF down the line?

The tuition at FSU isn’t that expensive. Definitely choose FSU over community college. If you don’t get accepted to UF as a transfer, at least you can just stay there.

If you do plan on doing FSU for 2 years then applying to UF (you might not even want to after two years at Floridas rival anyway!), carefully plan your credits with that in mind as the end goal to make a smooth transition. I don’t know how Floridas credit system works, but transferring just sounds like a pain a lot of times.
