Help With College Decision

Okay so I need help choosing a college/ figuring out what is worth the money. Here are my options and their prices
University of Massachusetts Amherst : 21k/ year (Commonwealth Honors College)
Clarkson University: 26k/ year
Lehigh University: 46k/ year
WPI: 39k/ year
University of New Hampshire: 24k/ year (Honors College)
RIT: 27k/ year

My dream school would be lehigh, but clearly it is very expensive. Would they give more aid if I asked? Also, I got into the computer science and business program at lehigh which has a 100% job placement, so I would be able to pay back loans. I was just wondering what you though would be my best opportunity?

Lehigh is not going to give you another $25k, so cross it off your list. There’s a limit on how much you can borrow, also. Stick with UMass or UNH . . . and unless you have a very compelling reason for wanting to attend UNH, go with UMass-Amherst, assuming your family can afford it, ‘cause you CANNOT borrow that much!

@dodgersmom I am still considering lehigh, because I could afford it now if Inhad to pay that much, but it would be a slight stretch. Even if they gave me 8-10k more per year, that would be good.

You could afford it??? Are you sure you don’t mean that your parents could afford it? And, if that’s the case, then you should be talking to them about how much they’re willing to pay. If they can afford $46k/year, then go to Lehigh.

But if what you’re talking about is having to take out private loans, with your parents cosigning, then none of these is worth it.

What are you majoring in?

If your parents have no problem with cosigning loans for you, then whichever place your heart desires. Freshmen can only borrow $5,500 and as you move up in years, you can borrow an extra $1,000 so sophomores can borrow $6,500, juniors can borrow $7,500 etc. Go with UMass or UNH. It’s a good school where you’ll be in the Honors College. If Lehigh will have you paying back racks and racks of loans (especially if you want to go on to grad school), Lehigh is NOT the right choice.
