Thanks guys! I left for NY yesterday and the galaxy pants did not get packed. 
I have another, safer outfit ready to be worn. I appreciate all the help!

Happy to report that interview went well Wore a simple sundress and sandals. In fact, I was probably one of the most fancy dressed of all the people being interviewed. I was surprised to see most in shorts and tshirts!
@astromae2001 UR is a pretty casual and unpretentious kind of place. That’s true, in general, for both students and faculty from what I’ve seen. And there is often a sort of whimsical quality to their communications, which suggested that your galaxy pants might have been appreciated as “interesting” rather than “weird” there…as long as you felt confident wearing them. It’s one of the things I’ve always appreciated about that school.
