Help with college list for my son (Junior)

Background: GPA - 4.7/5.1, SAT I: CR - 600; Math - 730; W - 560.
Several Academic Excellence Awards in Soph and Junior class.

We live in Long Island area. Although we prefer NY college/university; will consider out-of-state if the PRICE is right!

Cost is a concern and we need to compromise between quality and cost.

Are there schools (anywhere in the US) that will cover 100 % cost?

He is interested in Computer Science.

Thanks.

Sounds like a Carnegie Mellon or MIT student to me.
Even though with a 5.1 (is that even possible? o_O) you are looking at schools like Harvard and Yale.

You have to take into consideration that there is financial aid and scholarships, but obviousely if you want your son to go to a "liveflipping" university, you have to get the cash out.

Ah, and bring the sat's up a bit.

Here is a list of GOOD colleges:

The Ivies (look for ivy league on wikipedia)
University of Virginia
College William and Mary
Carnegie Mellon
MIT
CalTech
Northwestern

Cooper Union is free (tuition only - you still paying living expenses), though it has only computer engineering. It's also more difficult for a U.S. resident to get into than Harvard. RPI might also have what Junior is looking for, and has signficant merit awards. Rochester similar. He'll likely need higher SAT scores (but then he is only a junior, so that's likely). Worcester Polytech (WPI) in Massachusetts might also fit Junior, and offers substantial merit awards.

Surreale: His GPA is 4.7 on 5.1 scale OR about 3.8. Sorry for the confusion!!

Please take no offense from this - but Surreale is not providing you an accurate list of possibilities. Your son may choose to apply to those listed, but needs some strong safeties, because those are all mega-reaches! With scores of 600, and 560 he is a long ways off from those schools, and from Cooper Union. Is he a rising Junior? Or a current junior, going to be a senior? Class rank? More info would help. :)

Thanks. I agree with you. He will be Senior next year. He is among the top 5%. Asian (Indian); permanent resident of US.
