Comments
•Im not sure if some of these schools are in the right category for me
•Im mostly interested in research universities in the Northeast/midatlantic but Im open to liberal arts and other areas
•I would like to have this list under maybe 10 colleges but if you think that is too few than I will keep it larger

Unless you have a lot of money or unless your willing to take out a lot of loans, I wouldn’t put NYU on your list. I’m not saying that you couldn’t get in but it’s one of the worst schools in terms of financial aid.

For Georgetown definitely apply early action. They don’t reject anyone during that round tgey’ll just defer you to the regular round so you won’t get rejected and you may even have a great acceptance by December!

I’m a rising junior at Hopkins and I get the feeling Hopkins looooooves legacies. SO many people’s parents went here and a ton of people have all of their siblings here too which is actually pretty cool. They do like to see subject test scores so make sure you take them and knock them out of the park!

Unc chapel hill and William and Mary are both state schools so they’re harder to get in for out of state students. I don’t know what state you’re from but you have to be out of state for al least one. Haha. Also you’ll have to pay out of state tuition and they don’t give much financial aid.

Your safeties are definitely good. I’d also suggest if you’re a boy looking into smaller liberal arts schools because generally there are fewer guys applying and it’s easier to get in. Look into Swarthmore or Haverford because they’re super close to Philadelphia so you have access to a city and research opportunities that you would get at a larger school.

Thanks for the reply. My sister goes to hopkins and I know sibling legacy isn’t as effective as parental legacy but it will still help. Do you know if Hopkins looks at legacy status during regular decision or just early decision?

They look at it in both. My two older siblings graduated from
Hopkins and I applied regular. And when it comes to Hopkins, i’d say sibling legacy is just as if not more important than parent legacy. You really wouldn’t believe how many siblings are here. I think admissions figures the siblings are familiar with the school and so are their parents so they’re more likely to come.

Might look at Holy Cross-similar to Georgetown but easier to get into.

im not really interested in Georgetown for its jesuit affiliations but i will certainly look at Holy Cross
