Help with college selection

I need some help in choosing a college. I am planning to go to school for meteorology, and I have applied to 5 schools. Embry Riddle, UMiami, FSU, Penn State and UOklahoma, and I'm not sure which school to go to. I have already gotten accepted to a few of the schools, but there isn't a lot of rankings and information on which school is best for meteorology. I was wondering if anyone here had any personal experience or information on these colleges meteorology programs.

I’ve heard that Millersville University which is near Lancaster, PA has a superb program.

If you are a Florida resident and a good student FSU offers the best met education for the least expense.

Are you in-state for any of those public Us? U Oklahoma has an outstanding program. They have a major Air Force meteorology station there (Tornado tracking). U Vt has a good program as well. I’m not sure about the others.

Just a guess, but I would imagine that U of Oklahoma, U of Miami, and Florida State U would be the best choices for meteorology, simply because Florida has so many hurricanes and Oklahoma has so many tornadoes.

Close, but at least one long-term NOAA meteorologist says:

U Oklahoma

Florida State tied with Penn State

??

My 2 cents

I have known a handful of students who graduated from Penn State majoring in meterology – None are working in the field or even related fields.

I suggest asking about job placement and career counseling at all the schools on your list.
