I am high school student looking to take a class at CC over the summer. I am deciding between "Introductory Biology" and "Human Biology." Wondering which one you guys would suggest? Thanks

I think the class most likely to be accepted as an intro to biology class similar to AP bio us “Introductory Biology” Human biology is a subset of general biology, and so it probably won’t cover the other topics in a general biology class, such as plant biology, photosynthesis, evolution, microbio and more.

Also check to see if the intro to biology class is transferable as intro to biology at your state college. This would tell you that it is considered equivalent. Human bio would probably be accepted as an elective.

They’re actually both transferrable, but you’re saying Intro to Biology would be viewed more as AP Bio?

What do they transfer to? Most colleges accept a certain AP bio score as credit for their introduction to biology class, so you want to see what they transfer to.

There is a section called “transfer equivalences” on a college website where you can find your CC, choose the class, and it says which class you would get credit for and also a section for AP credit. If your college accepts AP as credit for intro to bio, and this class as intro to bio ( same class) then it would be considered equal.

Colleges would still consider human bio as a college level class- but as another human bio class, not intro to bio.

So it comes down to what you want to get credit for.
