Help With Computer ______ Major!

Okay, first let me thank everyone in advance who helps out!

Applying with the UC Application for Berkeley and I am having a hard time choosing a major. I know that I want to have a career in computers, probably designing software. I think at this point I am more interested in software than hardware if that helps.

At the College of Letters and Science, there is: Computer Science

Also offered in the College of Engineering (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, B.S.). B.A.

And at the College of Engineering they have: Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Computer Science is also offered in the College of Letters and Science (Computer Science, B.A.). B.S.
Communications, Networks, and Systems
Computer Science
Computer Systems
Electronics
General

So all of those subjects listed under the engineering school, are they courses I would be taking if I chose that major?

And at Cal Poly, I noticed that they have a software engineering major. Would there be an advantage to this major over computer science?

Thanks so much if you read this and can help out! Feel free to correct me if I was wrong about anything.

They don’t sound like courses - they sound like concentrations, a.k.a. paths you can follow by taking courses in those topics during your college career.

I can’t help you pick a major; it took me way too long to pick one for myself haha

At Berkeley,
choose EECS. Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.
It’s the toughest, but most rewarding.

Thanks for the replies.
Kevin2400: Can you give some reasons why EECS over Computer Science?
