To add on to what LuckyCharms said, there was an entire week and then part of a week canceled due to hurricanes at the beginning of this school year. Since Capstone has such a large number of OOS kids, very few left to go home during those times the kids had an absolute ball and “bonded” with hurricane parties.
S trying to make a decision. He really wants UGA but was waitlisted (34 ACT, 3.8 GPA, 9 APs). He got in Penn State, U of Maryland, Clemson, Case Western ($100 K scholarship), FSU, U South Carolina and Pathways program at GT. He now wants to stay closer to home (GA) and wants to follow the money but obviously have a good college education/ experience. He’s down to FSU and USC (with in-state tuition and Capstone). Does the Capstone program really make a difference?
We went to accepted students day on March 23 and attended Capstone presentation. My son and I walked out and both agreed that the presentation was excellent, the program provides students with great opportunities and resources, and Capstone then became one of the main reasons my son selected SC over several other colleges this past weekend. I recommend that you connect with Capstone facility (Dr. Hickey), and I am sure they will explain to you what we learned in the presentation, and I expect you will be very impressed. There are videos about Capstone online as well.
My daughter was accepted into UGA, Penn State , Maryland and is deciding between USC and UF but leaning towards USC.
@Uscmom66 Thank you for responding here. It is so helpful to hear what others are thinking. What is pushing your daughter towards USC? We are still having the hardest time. The money and Capstone is why my son is leaning that way but we’ve also heard from a guy that was there last year and didn’t care for the capstone dorm that much. He’s not very social so that could’ve been it.
