My S was accepted at Pitt, Penn State, Delaware and TCNJ. He is leaning toward PItt. (Also got nice merit scholarship to small LAC which only has 3-2 program)

He is thinking that Penn State is just too large. He decided to major in engineering but it is possible that he might change his mind so he needs a school with options and helpful advising. We were impressed with the freshman engineering program at Pitt and he likes the city. He also has an interest in Bio. but who knows what he will end up with.

How would the academic experience at UDel compare to PItt? We were thinking Pitt would be better, but perhaps he should revisit UDel??? He did not get admitted to honors at either school but it had to be close....

Any ideas?

I know nothing about either school, but wonder what the dilemma is. If he's impressed with Pitts program and likes the city I would look more in depth at what they have to offer. How easy it is to change majors, advising, and other opportunities he will have there. I'm not being mean but why muddy the waters unless there is a glaring problem. My son was accepted to four schools, we went to the first one for accepted students bought a shirt and went home. He's a very happy junior now. My gut reaction was WAIT this is the first one, but I resisted the urge. Now I'm glad I did. *

Delaware and Pitt are tied for their overall undergraduate engineering ranking by U.S. News but Delaware is #10 in the country for chemical engineering. It might depend on where your son wants to live and work post-college if he is not going for chemical engineering. What was the LAC and associated university for the 3/2 program?

The LAC was Gettysburg. The associated university is Columbia or RPI. (or students can ask permission to transfer to another school such as Pitt and Delaware) Scholarship money would not transfer to the other school. I think though that the advantage to starting at a school like Pitt is the freshman engineering seminar. Students get to explore various areas in engineering. I am guessing he would be interested in bioengineering,(likes biology) electrical or mechanical--He wouldn't have to wait until his 4th year of college to see if engineering is for him. Still Gettysburg is a great school. Thanks for your replies.
