I have bacially narrowed my choice down to the university of north carolina and the university of florida. If i go to UF it will be for free, and at UNC i will be paying the full 28.5k since i was notified I got no scholarship. Ive been contemplating this decision for a while, and i have basically boiled it down to, is it worth paying the 28.5k more for the better school(UNC) even though it is not heads and shoulders above UF. My parents could probably afford 10-15k a year but i would likely pay the rest of the 70k over 4 years(17.25/year). I plan on majoring in biology or exercise physiology with a premed track. Another thing about UF is that i will probably have research oppurtnities quite easily because i conducted research there over one summer, and i have kept in touch with that professor. If anyone who attends unc could give me as unbiased opinion as possible I would really appreciate it, but I welcome everyone elses thouhts as well. Thanks alot.

"If anyone who attends unc could give me as unbiased opinion as possible"
like that's possible, haha. (Just pulling your leg). You're in quite a pickle here. Have you visited both? You mentioned that you want to do a pre-med track; Carolina probably has better med school placement. Overall, I don't have any extraordinary advice for you. Clearly, you like Carolina more. Now you have to decide whether it's worth the price.

biased towards unc, go to UF, no question.

Yes i have visisted both campuses and i do like carolina's a little bit more, but i feel they are very similar because they are both very much "college towns". I also spoke to a friend and asked if it was worth the 28.5k but he is also going there on a full scholarship. Overall i feel like im leaning towards UF but what doesnt help is that my mother really wants me to go to UF while both my dad and brother really dont want me to go there.

This is a tough call to be sure. I'm sure all of us at UNC would love for you to come here, but I know that finances are quite important in making college decisions. UNC is a great place to go to school, but probably not $120,000 better than UF. Given the same choice, I'd probably go to Florida, cause that's just a lot of money. You can take the money and go to a good grad/med school, which will mean more for your future. Just make sure that you will be happy at UF, and that you can fit in there well enough. Don't get me wrong...I think UNC is the best school ever, but we all need to make financially responsible and reasonable decisions. Good luck to you, and I'm secretly hoping you'll come to UNC, but I understand if you don't
