Help with Decisions? Cal, NYU Poly, Cornell and waitlisted at Cooper Union

I really need help. And any input would be extremely appreciated.
I applied to the undergraduate civil engineering programs, and am having trouble making a decision.

My choices are between Cal, University of Washington, wait for Cooper Union, Poly NYU, or Cornell.

I was waitlisted on The Cooper Union's 'very short wait list', which I am not exactly sure what that means... but it was my top choice.
My parents want me to go to Cal, but I really want to be in New York City.
Cornell is a bit too expensive, comparatively, as I live in California and would get instate tuition at Cal, received a $23,000 scholarship from Poly NYU, and my aunt lives in Seattle so I could get instate at the University of Washington.
Anyone have any info about NYU Poly or any advice on any of these schools? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Go to Cal - its the best school for the cost - I hope your parents put their foot down.
