Help with Developing a College List

I am an Indian male, attending a medium sized public school in Long Island, NY and I would appreciate some help with developing a list of colleges to apply to. I am looking to major in journalism/communications.

Academic:

GPA: 3.45 (UW)

ACT: 32
English: 36
Math: 33
Reading: 33
Science: 27

SAT II's:
Biology: 710
Math: 700
US History: 740

*Note, I have taken the SAT once, however, I may retake the test this coming October. I would appreciate any advice on whether its worth retaking again and, considering my ACT score, its worth reporting my SAT at all.

SAT: 2100
Verbal: 700
Math: 710
Writing: 690

AP's:
World History: 4
US History: (Pending)
English Language: (Pending)
Biology (Senior Year)
Calculus AB (Senior Year)
English Literature (Senior Year)
Statistics (Senior Year)
Spanish (Senior Year)
Government (Senior Year)

EC's:

*Note: My school's budget did not pass resulting in the termination of my participation in some of these clubs/programs.

S.T.A.R.S (Community Service) 9th, 10th, 11th
Foreign Language Honors Society 9th, 10th
Science Honors Society 9th, 10th
Chess Club 9th, 10th
Varsity Tennis 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th

John Hopkins CTY Summer Program (July 2006)
Tom Suozzi Gubernatorial Campaign Field Volunteer (Summer 2006)
Brookhaven National Laboratory High School Summer Research Program (Summer 2007)
Good Samaritan Hospital Volunteering (50+hrs) (May 2007-Present)
Vatsalya Foundation - English Tutor for Indian Orphans (In India) (August 2008)
Cornell University Summer College (July 2008)

Co-founded a volunteer program servicing disabled children through various activities (i.e. Tennis classes and other recreational athletic activities) (September 2007-Present)

Honor Roll 9th, 10th, 11th
Principal's Circle 9th, 10th, 11th
Varsity Letter 9th, 10th, 11th

My main problem in developing a list is the discrepancy between my low GPA and relatively high standardized test scores, not counting SAT I.

However, the school I am most interested in are:

Boston College
Cornell Agr. School (I don't know if it helps, but my brother attends Cornell A & S)
NYU
Boston University
Westpoint
SUNY Stonybrook
SUNY Binghamton
Vilanova
Emery
Wash U.
Providence College
Naval Academy
Virginia Military Institute
The Citadel

I would appreciate any opinions on my chances at these schools and, more importantly, any advice on other schools that would be a good fit for me.

Thank You.

you should definitely check out ccac in pittsburgh

In addition, what are my chances w/ Northwestern, University of Michigan Ann Harbor and University of Chicago?

Please someone help =(

Your GPA is too low for all three, sorry. I would say that they are all reaches. Out of your original school list I would say that the only ones you will be admitted to are the SUNYs and Boston University. Your stats aren’t really good enough for the USNWR top 25 universities.

Northwestern’s journalism school is notoriously impossible to get into.

Thanks for replying, but you don’t think BC and NYU are attainable with an increase in my SAT score?

I would try Syracuse if I were you. NYU is simply out of reach due to lack in GPA. They are really stat-hungry there.
