Help with dorm choices

I've heard that Brackenridge, Prather, Roberts, and Moore-hill are pretty similar. But there must be some differences that makes one better than the others. Of these dorms, I need to choose a top two at least. Help please?
And btw, I'm looking for a dorm with good studying environment, spacious, and where you get to know your roommates pretty well.

i would go with moore-hill

From what I can tell with the floor plans and pictures, Prather has the biggest rooms because the shelves and dressers are built INTO the wall and do not protrude. I think Roberts and Prather are known to be quieter dorms, supposedly good for studying. I also know that Brackenridge is connected to Roberts, so that could possibly indicate similarity. Apparently Moore-Hill is quite social though.
It seems to me that no one dorm is just perfect. Haha trust me, I have tried to find one in vain. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages and it depends on what's your priority in a living space. When I selected my housing choices, after my top choice (the honors quad) I basically put down dorms that I wouldn't be unhappy with. So I just asked myself, "where do I NOT want to live?" and made sure those weren't on my list. Happy researching!

thanks! i agree with you on Prather and as of now, it is my top choice with brackenridge at second. i've heard from several people from UT that Moore-Hill would be the dorm to pick but I have it as my last pick because the rooms (as well as the desks) in Moore-Hill looks relatively smaller than the others according to the online virtual tour. I'll certainly still keep my eye out though!

However, I'm not sure how reliable the online virtual tour is. I know I can't decide based on room size alone but that's all the information I can get from the virtual tour. Any more information on those dorms will help me a lot. Also, when you apply for dorms, how are the choices prioritized? Is it the first who pay for housing/sign contract gets first choice?

All of my info is from the online tours and pics. I wish I knew more, though. The info I listed before has been confirmed by various sources (mainly from college confidential) but other than that I don't know much. The little testimonials at the bottom of each dorm's page are helpful as well.
The housing priority is determined based on when you turned in the Housing Application (NOT contract or payment). I would also check out the huge UT dorms thread, it has a lot of helpful info.

thanks again, Deenz! I turned in the Housing App near the end of October so dorm choices shouldn't be an issue. My dorm preferences isn't going to change unless I personally go check them out or something. The biggest opportunity would be at the Fall Orientation Sessions but I'm not sure what dates they will be held, so I don't know if I can go to that and still change dorms by the deadline. But I'll probably be happy with the dorm I get.

oops, "Fall Orientation Sessions" should be "New Student Orientation"
