I'm trying to figure out where I should live. I want to be in east because I like to be around people, but I also like to live somewhere sort of quiet so I can sleep/study. If you have any advice please help! I'm a business major if that helps.

there is some good discussions of dorms on this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/1028114-ask-current-freshman-anything.html?highlight=dormead

I did an overnight visit a few months back and stayed in east halls in brumbaugh on the ROTC floor (floors 7-8)
it was really that loud but I was only there for later hours so it wasn’t really that bad but there were some people walking around and talking in the hallways and the other rooms

You might want to look at this–

thank you! if anyone else has input, i’ll take it!

Just be warned that the academic buildings in campus are grouped for convenience, so where you want to live is influenced at least in part by your major. East halls is pretty remote, and inconvenient for anything but football. I would generally recommend avoiding East and North Halls, and recommend West or else Pollock/Central/South (they are all grouped together).

Do not pick East because it is very far. I lived in Pollock and hated it because of the constant noise and parties. I moved into Nittany Suites as a freshman in my spring semester but not every freshman is that lucky. I would recommend you pick West Halls, North Hall suites, Nittany Hall suites because you will definitely not get any quiet time with East because of the freshman and Pollock because of the sorority parties. I have heard that South isnt that bad though. South is a very convenient place to live since its near the Hub and classes.
