Help with Explaining Grades to UCSC(Possible Revocation)

Here’s my situation.

  • I'm a senior who was accepted into UCSC, but have not met the conditions of admission and need help of what to do
  • My senior year ended 14 days ago and I have yet to send my transcripts(due in 2 days) or notify my UCSC of the matters below
  • I switched my calculus BC class to calculus AB for both 1st and 2nd semester and never told the school.
  • I received a D second semester in my AP Physics B class
  • I had a 2.84 GPA for both semesters. I averaged 3.5 before senior year
  • I have two valid excuses. One is a death in the family and the other is medical.

I understand how bad this all is, but any help is greatly appreciated

Here’s my questions

  • UCSC has a "Schedule Change / Grade Issues Form" on their portal where I'm supposed to fill in the changed classes and inform them of grades below a C. A comment box on the form is titled "Comments/explanations"(limited 100 words). Should I put the reasons I did poorly there or should wait for a rejection and do it through the appeals process?
  1. My parents don’t believe that I should list my medical excuse, because it has to do with ADHD i was diagnosed with beginning of senior year and troubles I initially had with medication and they feel UCSC would see it as a liability and definitely reject me. The thing is the medical excuse is the major reason and the death in the family doesn’t explain the D well. Should I or shouldn’t I list it?

  2. Should I wait till tomorrow before submitting the form and call the admissions office and explain my situation or just send it now?

  3. Any tips on how I should proceed?

  4. On a scale from “it’s all good in the hood” to “game over” how boned am I?

Call, then send the form. Your counselor may be able to help expedite your paperwork, and may offer you advice on how to phrase your explanation.

And your parents are wrong. ADHD, if it has been diagnosed by a licensed psych., is a real condition which is recognized by the Office of Student Services, which can offer students accomodations such as separate test-taking facilities. It doesn’t ‘dumb down’ your studies one iota, just gives you the resources you need.

Professor D, do you have any experience with this kind of appeal? I submitted my appeal for this reason as well - I stopped taking my ADD meds last semester because they made me feel sick. I got a D in an a-g class as a result. I submitted a letter from my doctor along with my appeal, and a letter of recommendation from another teacher. UCSC is my dream school and I am so devastated by this cancellation. I have also enrolled in a UC approved online class to make up the credits over the summer, although I understand that may not help. I will be working with my doc to get back on the right meds. Any advice or stories of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone knowledge of an admit getting rescinded yet?
