Hi everyone. I am going to be a sophomore next year and needed some help with my classes. To start off, I like to take honors courses because it is all I’ve ever known, and have been taking honors courses for as long I have been able to. Next year, I am taking:
Enriched American Lit.
Honors Functions and Trig.
AP Biology
Accelerated Chem.
Honors Spanish III
Band
Study Hall (This is what I want to change)
I want to be able to independently study an AP Class during my study hall. Originally, I was taking AP Human Geo., but I wanted a certain math teacher, so I had to drop the course. I also don’t think my school would want me to take an AP class independently if they offer it. So, I need some help with knowing what AP classes are good to study independently, or what were some easier ones? I would really appreciate this since I don’t really know what to do. Thanks!
Your high school doesn’t require social studies? Do they have AP European history at a time slot you could take it there? Or APUSH?
@washugrad I took American History (a sophomore class) as a freshman last year, so I have an open spot. My school also doesn’t offer AP Euro as a class, I was thinking of taking that but I heard the course load was a lot.
World History? Music Theory? Neither is that easy but not super hard either for independent study.
@ProfesserPlum168 I was planning on taking AP World my junior year, and my school offers AP Music Theory but one of my friends can’t fit it into her schedule either and was thinking of taking it independently and just going to the teacher. Thanks for the advice!
If you can get your band teacher or a music tutor to help you with feedback on certain topics such as harmonization, Music Theory is a pretty good class to do independent study.
If you’re dead set on self study, I would just recommend studying the “easier APs”. Do not self study Chem or COGO, but rather something like Psych. Self study something that you’re good at, it’ll make the class easier. Factor in the fact that Bio should be your hardest class by far (I’m just guessing, I dont know your school, but just from looking it looks like it). AP HUGE would be good.
