Help with Finding Safeties Please

So far on my list I have Harvard College, Columbia College, New York University, Boston University, and Northeastern University. I talked to my school counselor and she suggested that I look for two more safety schools. Do you guys know any other schools with a 50+% acceptance rate that's decent and close to Boston or New York City. Also the school must be coed and have a campus-y college-y feel (no commuter colleges). I'm really trying to give other schools a chance, but I don't want to apply to a school that isn't quite for me...As you can tell I'm quite picky ;-) haha.

Harvard University??? If so… wow best of luck.

Some safeties in NYC:
CUNY Baruch + Hunter
Queens College

Some safeties in Boston:
Emerson
Suffolk

Northeastern has a 35% acceptance rate but if your applying to the ivy’s you definitely have the stats to get in. Anyways, what about Boston College, Tufts, Brandeis, WPI, and UMASS-Amherst, Fordham, Syracuse.

LOL ewww Suffolk? thats not even worthy of a safety especially if the original poster is applying to Harvard College. I recommend UMASS Amherst, UCONN, and Fordham

“mcvcm92”, you only gave me one safety school! haha the rest have less than 50% acceptance rates!

haha thank you “brownbear1.” I’m not trying to be snobby, but I have wwwaayyy too better stats than Suffolk. If I went there then it would be ridiculous. I need an academically stimulating and rigorous college.

How about supplying your info so we can actually provide some recommendations?

what info do you want?

Take a look at Hofstra. Beautiful campus. Many options for majors/minors. Good Honors Program. Access to NYC. I think they have rolling admissions.

Grades, standardized test scores, ECs, APs, class rank, GPA, etc.

bump

I don’t really want to get too specific. I am in the top 5% of my class and I have a 4.0 GPA. I take as many AP classes as possible. I have plenty of leadership, volunteering, and EC activities.

I’m looking for safeties with a 50-70% range for admission. Boston University is kinda my only safety so far. I’m looking for more universities/colleges in the Boston and NYC area.

That is all well and good, but what exactly is your family EFC? Do you know how much money you have available for your education?

Make your folks sit down with the financial aid calculators at [:: College Planning Made Easy | Inside Source for College Admissions Requirements](http://www.collegeboard.com), and get them to tell you what their plans are for financing your studies. You need to know how seriously you should be looking for a financial safety, or whether mere academic safeties suffice.
