Help with Frats...

Hey, I know this may not be the best place to ask, but I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with choosing a fraternity. I was invited to Alpha Delt and Rockledge thanksgiving dinners this week. Even though I felt like I fit in, I found AD to be a bit too preppy and stuck-up for me. Rockledge was much better, and I found a bunch of awesome brothers. However, Rockledge is slightly worse in terms of mixing and status. I still feel like it will be one of my top choices, but I still want to see what's out there. Is there any frat that is in between this? How about DU, Llenroc, Delta Chi, or Lambda? I also want a house that isn't known for having too many ******bags...thanks.

Hello, I am a freshman and am thinking of joining a sorority.

I’ve never been to Alpha Delt, so I can’t comment on that.
I found Rockledge to be a little too claustrophobic.
DU’s brother, I found, were generally a bit, for a lack of a better word, sleazy.
Delta Chi is alright I guess.
Lambda - never been there.

But hands down, the nicest brothers I’ve met are those at Llenroc. A big difference between them and the other frats is that you can generally get upstairs and hangout in the rooms.

llenroc’s full of nerdy kids. i didn’t know anyone considering AD would ever consider llenroc

no one considering rockledge seriously would ever go adelt. if you’re the knd of person who liked rockledge more than adelt you will not get a bid at adelt end of story.

Yeah, I mean that’s probably true…but I really did fit into AD’s dinner (probably because I happened to have a fancy suit at the time) and got to know a few brothers very well, but it still was not my style at all…so I’m not considering it, I’m just saying that if I really wanted, I would probably have a chance there. But yeah, I still want to know more about the others though I suppose. Oh yeah, I also want one where the brothers are actually decently smart…academics are very important to me.

just about every brother is going to be decently smart…they got into cornell for a reason, after all

but the right thing about recruitment, for fraternities and sororities, is to pick which one is best for YOU regardless or stereotypes or what your friends are doing, or whatnot. you will have a much more enjoyable experience and you will end up liking where you are in the long run

you sound like a delta chi person. They have a nice group of bros that somewhat preppy, but not nearly as uppity as an alpha delt group. They also mix/do stuff a lot more than rockledge.

Alpha Delt: already described…

Rockledge: Went to a cool double floor party once and it was fun. I honestly have never known a single brother and that reflects that they have a very small presence on campus.

DU: Mix of athletic skill. I also agree that they can actually be sort of sleazy but they also have some good brothers (a couple of who I’m friends with). Viewing them in the tier of good frats they have an average amount of parties and an average amount of mixers (so neither a great nor bad factor)

Delta Chi is on north (a big negative). They are one of the best frats on north and have a rather mixed brotherhood, with some athletic kids and some nerds. Good amount of mixers but I’ve never been to a party.

Lambda (Chi?)- Lots of parties, good amount of mixers. The brothers I know are nice and good friends with each other. I lived on West when I first came here and I feel like we ended up there most times they had parties because they were usually crazy. I never really formed a stereotype of Lambda tho since it seemed like the brotherhood had pretty big mix of personalities.

So I’de say that Delta Chi and Lamda are between AD and Rockledge. DU is different than both but still a good frat.
