okay so my first semester of college i got a 1.9 gpa and i want to transfer out. the other college wants to look at my high school and college transcripts. in order for me to be a transfer student i need 30 credit hour which i don’t so is the gpa i got the first semester going to affect me? by the way my gpa through high school was around a 2.75
Yes I would say if you are seen doing quite a bit worse in college ( not sure how hard your classes are but from 2.75 to 1.9 looks like quite a drop unless ur in engineering or something really difficult overall) your first sem. grades will hurt
Unfortunately, a 1.9 GPA won’t get you far when transferring. Most schools want to see at least a 2.5 at the lowest.
Is there any reason your GPA is so low? If there is a personal issue or life-changing event, this can be explained on applications. Otherwise, schools won’t have much forgiveness.
It would probably be in your best interest to stay at your current college and bring up your GPA to transfer later on as a junior or senior.
