Hi everyone,
I'm trying really hard to encorporate the ideas of Grapes of Wrath, Scarlet Letter, and the Crucible into a thesis for a High School Honors English essay. I really need help with narrowing this thesis I have down into a concise, sophisticated sentence. (And my teacher is an insanely harsh critic)

"While selflessness is generally associated with kind acts towards others, it exemplifies the purity seen through the lives of unique individuals, serves as a form of redemption for those attempting to overcome adversity caused by their misdeeds, and ultimately can reveal a selfless side to those condemned to lives of despair."

I understand that this thesis really needs work, but my essay is about selflessness, and how it comes in 3 different ways: through the good of one's heart, as a form of redemption, and "hidden" until its true meaning is revealed (like how the scarlet letter went from meaning "Adulterer" to meaning "Able")

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you so much!
