My freshman year, I attended multiple high schools, but my transcript lists all my grades for that year under just one high school-the first one I attended.

The common app states to list all high schools attended, with dates of attendance. Should I base it off of what my transcript shows? (My school's adviser thinks I should, since all of them wouldn't fit in the spaces provided otherwise.)

@bengalmombengal Actually, my counselor has no idea. My school has an adviser/ someone who helps students with college apps but she said she’s never had a situation like mine, but that basing it off my transcript should be fine since it fits into the few spaces provided that way. I’m afraid that colleges will call that school to verify dates of attendance and see the discrepancy and assume I was lying intentionally, but then again if I list them all and it doesn’t match with my transcript they’ll think I was lying about how many schools I’ve attended. I am very confused and at a loss of what to do.

You know what? I’d make sure the real facts are listed somewhere on the app. You attended more than one school and that’s very relevant. Maybe in an “other info” section. My kid has this challenge too.

@dyiu13 Well the app does ask if I’ve had an interruption in my education, ie moving schools, and if so, to explain. So there should I just explain that although my transcript doesn’t show it, I attended multiple schools freshman year? Or I could ask my GC to address this in his LOR?

Then list the schools you can, and in the other information section explain the issue. You can also email admissions with this information. It happened on one of my daughter’s applications for college courses where all the information did not fit and she emailed it to them.
