Help with ideas about recording an arts supplement - upright bass

I do not have access to good recording equipment and the upright bass sounds horrible on anything I have available. Does anyone have any ideas?

  1. Ask your HS music/orchestra teacher for advice.
  2. Consider if is really that important to send this supplement, especially if you are not applying to music programs.

You might also ask on the music majors forum.

When we visited her top choice school, the admissions office suggested it would be helpful, so I’d like to have it in. I will cross post on the music majors forum. I didn’t think of that. Thanks.

My S is recording his music school application prescreens at a local professional recording studio. I was really surprised how reasonable rates can be ($65 per hour in our case). They provide all equipment, including a nice piano and all the engineering. You just have to walk in with your instrument, accompanists, etc. and walk out with the recordings on a flash drive/DVD/etc. They may or may not work with video, if that’s what you need. May be worth researching in your locale.
